Serve With Us

We take seriously Jesus' commandments to serve the least of these: the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the imprisoned, the stranger and the sick, and we believe that God has given everyone something to offer when it comes to showing God's love to the world.

The service of our church is led by our deacons, who organize and coordinate a variety of projects and programs throughout the year. We hope you will get involved:

THE DUMA FOOD PANTRY

SECOND & FOURTH TUESDAYS

Our congregation is a major partner in the Dunn United Ministerial Association Food Pantry, located in downtown Dunn on Broad Street. The DUMA Food Pantry distributes food to hundreds of families in Harnett County every Second and Fourth Tuesday of each month.

Volunteers are always needed to help on distribution days. If you are interested in volunteering, contact deacon Susan Williamson.

THE FPC SHOE PROJECT

MAY & OCTOBER

Each Spring and Fall, our congregation raises money to purchase shoes for kids in need from the Harnett County School System. This past year, we purchased over 130 pairs of shoes for students at Harnett Primary, Wayne Avenue Elementary, Coats Elementary, Erwin Elementary, Gentry Elementary, Dunn Middle School, Coats-Erwin Middle School and Triton High School. If you’d like to donate to the Shoe Project, or help on purchase days, you can contact deacons Morgan Colmenaro or Melissa Stevens.

LIVING WATERS FOR THE WORLD

First Presbyterian is has a team working with Living Waters for the World, an organization that trains and equips congregations to install and maintain water purification systems with villages and communities in need all over the world. With six trained team members, we plan to begin the process of installing a system in Haiti early 2020. For more information, contact deacon Anne Johnson.

THE ANGEL TREE PROJECT

DECEMBER

Each Christmas, members of our church are encouraged to "adopt" and provide Christmas gifts for an underserved community child.  Each child's age, clothing sizes and Christmas wishes are provided by the Harnett County School System and are noted and ready for selection from our 'angel tree'. For more information, contact deacons Morgan Colmenaro or Melissa Stevens
